Banafsheh Modaressi, an Iranian-Canadian filmmaker and multimedia artist, seamlessly blends her rich background in fine arts and design into her evocative creations. Her exceptional contributions to film and media have earned her recognition at prestigious international festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival, Golden Panda, Goldenrod Art Festival, and Mumbai Film Festival. She is also a multiple-time winner of the Telefilm Canada Scriptwriting Award and has served as a jury member for the Leo Awards, celebrating excellence in Canadian cinema.

 

Spanning Tehran, Paris, and Vancouver, Modaressi’s work delves into the intersections of mass production, cultural exchange, and censorship, reflecting her keen observations on the shifting landscapes of identity and artistic freedom. Growing up in Tehran under stringent censorship, she developed a deep awareness of the transformative power of technology in shaping cultural narratives.
